Julie Verville runs the only fine arts gallery in The Woodlands. That fact alone earns attention. What she's done with it — at 25200 Grogan's Park Drive, in a 2,000-square-foot space she moved into when she relocated Ardest from Magnolia in June 2023 — is what makes it worth writing about.
All Texas, All Local
The roster runs 40 to 50 Texas artists, many of them from the Woodlands area. Walk in on a Wednesday and you'll find original 2D paintings, ceramic vessels, hand-carved wood sculptures, kiln-fired glass work. The depth of talent on those walls is the first thing that catches you off guard.
The Grogan's Park space gives the work room to breathe. Sculptures on white pedestals anchor the center of the floor. Paintings line the walls without crowding each other. It feels like a proper gallery because it is one — not a boutique that decided to hang some art.
More Than a Gallery
What sets Ardest apart from a shop that happens to hang art: Julie actively invites the community in. The gallery hosts charity fundraisers, juried art shows, and workshops. From September through April, they run a monthly outdoor art market called Art in The Woods.
They've also partnered with Amerigo's Grille for cocktail parties inside the gallery. Art on the walls, a drink in your hand, good people around you — that combination works for a company event, a fundraiser, or a private party in a way that no banquet hall can touch.

When to Go and Who to Call
Ardest is open Wednesday through Friday, 10am to 2pm, and Saturday 10am to 4pm. Closed Sunday through Tuesday, so plan ahead. Parking runs along Grogan's Park Drive.
