Harry's Roadhouse Grew From a Route 66 Gas Station Into 140 Seats

We, the LIVIN team, had breakfast at Harry's Roadhouse on September 13, 2026. Harry's Roadhouse is just south of Santa Fe on Old Las Vegas Highway. For over 30 years Harry's Roadhouse has been serving comfort food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our photo shows two fried eggs, strips of bacon, fried potatoes, toast and a cup of butter on a plate, with the banana waffle behind it.

Harry's Roadhouse is set in a converted roadside stop. The Harry's Roadhouse building is white with green trim and a sign reading Harry's Roadhouse, behind shrubs and a gravel lot. The Harry's Roadhouse site was originally a dairy farm, then a gas station on Route 66 that added a lunch counter. Harry Shapiro recalls that the Harry's Roadhouse site became a bunch of funky restaurants in the 1970s, then cafes. A longtime resident remembers that after the gas station, the Harry's Roadhouse site was the Romeros Family Restaurant, then a cafe opened by two friends from Pecos, and after that a drama club.

Harry Shapiro and Peyton Young launched Harry's Roadhouse on Old Las Vegas Highway in 1992. Harry's Roadhouse opened with 30 seats and has expanded to 140, with additions of a bar, the entrance area and other rooms. Harry's Roadhouse has an outdoor patio.

Harry's Roadhouse appeared on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in the episode What's For Breakfast, season 5, episode 1, which aired in October 2008. On the show, Harry told Guy Fieri that the pork butt scrapple with polenta and sage comes straight from Philadelphia. Harry's Roadhouse serves Blue Cornmeal Waffles and southwestern Migas with pickled jalapeno.
