The effect is less garden center, more the very-well-curated living room of someone who has genuinely figured out how to live in the high desert.

The cactus selection is the headline, and it earns it. A staff member I talked with about a few of the specimens on display was knowledgeable, unhurried, and genuinely interested in matching the right plant to the right person and the right light situation, not in closing a sale. That conversation alone put SABO in a different category from every big-box nursery I've navigated alone. Santa Fe has a particular gravity for people in the middle of reinvention, and SABO has taken that seriously as a retail premise rather than a marketing angle.

If you only make it to the Marcy St shop, you're getting the full concept. But SABO also runs a satellite greenhouse at El Rey Court, the storied motel-turned-creative-hub at 1862 Cerrillos Rd, which means there's a reason to seek them out on the south end of town too. The two locations don't feel like expansion for expansion's sake. They feel like a business putting down roots in more than one corner of the city it actually cares about.
