Southern Comfort From Scratch: Lunch at 2 Floyd's Southern Kitchen Inside CHOMP

On a Tuesday late morning, October 20, 2026, we stopped at the 2 Floyd's Southern Kitchen stall inside CHOMP Food Hall on Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe and ordered the Hanger sandwich and the shrimp and grits. The Hanger is herb marinated hanger steak with pickled red onion, arugula and spicy mayo on toasted brioche. The shrimp and grits are seared shrimp in a creamy low country sauce with grilled asparagus, blistered cherry tomatoes and crispy fried grit cakes. That is southern comfort from a kitchen that calls itself "from scratch." When we checked again on October 26, both 2 Floyd's and CHOMP were open.

What 2 Floyd's is

2 Floyd's is a stall, one of the kitchens inside CHOMP at 505 Cerrillos Road. The menu page puts it this way: "We welcome you to our proud 'from scratch' kitchen where we are serving passionately crafted southern comfort fare inspired by all regions of the American South." It adds that the menu features "bold, craveable flavors" that combine "traditional family recipes with creative culinary fusion."

CHOMP's own vendor page describes the stall as "passionately crafted southern comfort fare" by two chefs, and it says, "Vegetarian options available."

Here is how the stall showed up. In about November 2025, the Santa Fe Reporter's food column, The Fork, noticed inside CHOMP "a new sign from 2 Floyds Southern Kitchen." The paper's listing said the owners were "set to open a stall at the CHOMP food hall 'very soon.'" On November 25, 2025, the column reported that "the newest booth occupied by 2 Floyds Southern Kitchen was mere minutes away from its soft opening." The column said plainly that it was not a review, and noted, "this place has biscuits?!" and "2 Floyds makes its own pickles."

The menu, by name

Starters include Grit Puppies, creamy grits and minced shrimp rolled in panko, deep fried and served on low country sauce, and Sweet Potato Tots with peach ketchup.

The sandwiches are the Chicken & Biscuit, a crispy fried boneless thigh in either 2FLoYDs hot & tangy or Korean spicy & sweet, with house-made pickles on a buttermilk biscuit. Then come the Hanger, a Shrimp Burger and an Ahi BLT. The Shrimp Burger is a pan-fried panko crusted shrimp patty with minced green onion, butter lettuce and spicy mayo. The Ahi BLT is blackened ahi tuna with bacon, butter lettuce, tomato and avocado mayo.

The entrees include Chicken & Waffles, which comes classic with a crispy fried boneless thigh, a buttermilk waffle and spicy maple syrup, or "2FLoYDs style" with avocado butter and watermelon relish. There is the Shrimp & Grits, and a Hanger Tostada with herb marinated hanger steak, white bean puree, braised collards and chimichurri rojo. Mac & Cheese or a Seasonal Salad with peach vinaigrette can also be an entree, with an added protein of fried chicken thigh, seared shrimp, blackened ahi tuna or herb marinated hanger steak.

The sides are a buttermilk biscuit with mayhaw jelly, braised collards, cornbread casserole, fried okra, sweet potato tots, mac & cheese and a side salad with peach vinaigrette. Drinks are sweet tea, Big Red soda and bottled water, and there is a dessert of the day.

Vegetarian items are marked on the menu, and there is a vegetarian sampler of four sides. Several items are marked gluten free, including the Grit Puppies, Braised Collards, Shrimp & Grits and the Hanger Tostada.

What we ate

The Hanger came as sliced steak, red onion and greens on a brioche bun, with tots and a dipping cup, as in our photo. The shrimp and grits arrived with the shrimp, the creamy sauce, the asparagus and the cherry tomatoes over a fried grit cake. The shrimp and grits is one of the items marked gluten free.

The setting: CHOMP

CHOMP calls itself "Santa Fe's first food hall," and it opened in late February 2020 at Cerrillos Road and Paseo de Peralta. Owner Ken Joseph told the Santa Fe New Mexican in 2020, "A food hall is all about variety, community, fun and accessibility."

"All of the vendors at CHOMP are Chef owned and operated," the contact page says. Today CHOMP lists four restaurants: 2 Floyd's Southern Kitchen, Brujas Pizza, Picnic NM Cheese and Charcuterie, and Nath's Inspired Khmer Cuisine. The room is a "cavernous, modern space" with "sliding glass doors to the lovely, secluded courtyard," as the New Mexican described it in 2021.

CHOMP is closed on Mondays, and each vendor keeps its own hours.

When Santa Fe Reporter wrote about the stall's opening, the writers added, "we still would like to see CHOMP succeed." 2 Floyd's is part of that.
