Downtown Santa Fe has no shortage of spots to eat near the plaza, and The Pantry has been doing the long-standing local institution thing since 1948. Henry & The Fish is something different — less freighted with history, more focused on the transaction itself: a clean, honest meal in a city that has a tendency to oversell everything it touches.
That restraint is the point. Santa Fe's plaza corridor runs on atmosphere, on the accumulated weight of adobe and art galleries and the sense that you're somewhere with real character. Henry & The Fish doesn't compete with any of that. It just gives you a place to fuel up before you go find it. After you're done, walk west to east on San Francisco — the plaza is right there, the Sangre de Cristos behind it, and a Saturday morning on the plaza teaches you more about this city than a week of research.
